A friend is running in the Berlin Marathon next month. He's run New York, Chicago, and has plans on running all the big ones (e.g. Toyko, Boston). It's a blessing to accompany his wife and son on the trip. There are six or seven of us going to help support. After the marathon, we'll re-visit places we haven't been to in decades. My wife and I really enjoyed Germany in 1995 -- except for the surprise Liver and Onions meal I was served. It is a beautiful country with very hospitable people. We won't make it to the Octoberfest in Munich this time -- that's a young man's game. We've gained some wisdom and will stick to the smaller celebrations. We\'re hoping to see our daughter who lives in Ireland and friends in Amsterdam. Praying the weather is as we remember in late September.

We went to Spain to walk a bit of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camino_de_Santiago. We went from Pamplona to Lograno -- didn't make it to Compostela ... this time. Each day, we'd wake up, get breakfast, and start walking to the next town. When we arrived, we checked into our lodgings, took a shower and/or a nap. Headed out for dinner, then bed. Then, back at it again the next day. We met many people who were doing the whole journey -- impressive. It takes more weeks more than we could be away. And yet, it'd be nice to try.
Here's some pictures with little to no further commentary.

The trip started in Bilbao where we walked the 10k that was part of the Night Marathon. What a great way to see a city and get a t-shirt to Camino in. Bilbao is a beautiful city with elegant, and welcoming residents. The Guggenheim was very picturesque.
After the Camino, we headed to Barcelona to tour the https://sagradafamilia.org/en/. Quite a holy site. There's a Taco Bell across the street, but we had no time to stop in.
After Barcelona, we trained to San Sebastian. Hanging out on the beach at the end of October is unnerving, but it was awesome. We didn't swim, but others were in the water with no wet suits. Global warming.
We spent the last night in Lisbon, Portugal. Like New York City, this place was frantic and didn't sleep on Halloween. We were older than everyone at the hostel we stayed in (including staff). It was incredible. Too short.

Who could have imagined what 2021 would have wrought.
Ugh. Please God let 2022 be better -- more events, more chances to see people. Less being cooped up staring at screens. Bring back the '80s. All the best.

So long 2020. May the work we do today make us healthier, wealthier, and happier this time next year.
